A desire to help others inspired Daisy Olaguer to transition from full-time mother to dedicated healthcare assistant.

Name: Daisy Olaguer

Qualification: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support) (Level 4)

Daisy Olaguer always knew she wanted to pursue a career that would allow her to provide support to vulnerable individuals.

“Helping others is a big passion of mine. I thought the perfect opportunity to allow me to do this would be to study a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support) (Level 4) with New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC). I also liked the idea of being able to expand my knowledge and learn new skills.”

Daisy decided to enrol with NZTC as she found the flexible modes of learning very convenient.

“Studying with NZTC Online meant that I could plan my own timetable. I am a mother to three children and also work full-time, so my schedule is often very hectic. Online study is certainly the perfect option for those with busy lives.”

Daisy was impressed with the level of support she received from the college, which helped her to overcome a particular struggle she faced throughout her studies.

“As English is my second language, the language barrier was an obstacle I found challenging. NZTC helped me to overcome this by answering any questions I had, and clarifying any parts of the assignments I did not fully understand.

“Because of this, I had a very positive learning experience, and I was able to effectively complete my studies to the best of my ability.”

Now a recent NZTC graduate, Daisy is thriving in her workplace.

“I have found my Level 4 qualification to be extremely useful in my daily practice. I often draw on helpful resources for information, and my confidence has been boosted because of the knowledge and skills I have gained.

“Definitely enrol with NZTC; they really encourage their students to excel. I’ve loved my journey with them so much, that in the future I would like to take my education even further. In the meantime though, I am very happy with what I have achieved.”
