Credit Recognition and Transfer (CRT) is the process of awarding credit towards your chosen program at NZTC for courses which you have successfully completed at other tertiary providers.

CRT is assessed on a case-by-case basis. If you wish to apply for credit you will be required to pay a $95.00 application fee.

For New Zealand qualifications:
If you have a completed (or partially completed) qualification from a New Zealand education provider, you may be eligible to receive credit. CRT is assessed by our Registry Team. To be assessed for credit, you must supply a verified copy of your transcripts and learning outcomes of each course or qualification you have completed (the education provider will be able to give these to you).

For overseas qualifications:
You may be eligible for credit if you have completed a qualification at an overseas tertiary institution. Before NZTC begins the CRT process, you need to have your qualification assessed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Please contact the NZQA for more information on this process.

Our Pastoral Support Team is here to help you deal with any issues, personal or professional, that may affect your performance as a student. The team regularly helps students through health and family issues, and can refer you to external support agencies should you require them.

Please note: NZTC observes and is bound by The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. Copies of the Codes are available from the NZQA website.

NZTC has a team of lecturers dedicated to supporting you in the development of your academic skills.

Areas in which they can support you include:

  • academic writing
  • punctuation and grammar
  • interpreting essay questions
  • APA referencing
  • understanding plagiarism
  • research database skills
