Please note: These fees are approximate and based upon a full-time course load for each program of study. After you have applied and been accepted we will send you an invoice with the final cost of your tuition fees.

The following fees are also required:

  • Student Fee Insurance $50 
    Covers the insurance to protect student fees. The fee is based upon one stage of study.
  • Student ID card $30 
    One off payment at beginning of study. Students must submit a photo for a student card to be produced. Replacement cards for lost or stolen cards are $30.
  • Police Vetting Fee $25 
    One off payment at beginning of study.
  • NZQA Reporting Fee $10
    Covers the cost of reporting qualification to NZQA.

If you are applying for Credit Recognition and Transfer (CRT):

  • CRT Assessment Fee $95
    The fee is non-refundable even if no CRT credit is awarded.

Fees Free

Learners beginning study for the first time in 2025 may be eligible for Fees Free which covers fees for the final year of tertiary study in the first qualification you complete after 1 January 2025, up to $12,000 including GST.

Fees Free will only cover the final year of one qualification. If you don’t use the $12,000 entitlement for the final year of your first qualification, you won’t be able to access Fees Free again for a second qualification.

You will be able to confirm your eligibility and claim your Fees Free entitlement after you complete your qualification using the myIR portal which will be available to use from early 2026. Until then, you don’t need to do anything.

Make sure you organise payment of your fees when you enrol. You may wish to apply to StudyLink for a student loan to help cover your fees. For further information, visit www.feesfree.govt.nz

StudyLink

If you are a full-time student and a New Zealand or Australian citizen, or a permanent resident, you may be eligible for a student loan or allowance through StudyLink to help with your compulsory fees, course related costs and living costs. The student allowance is a weekly payment for full-time students to help with day-to-day living costs. For more information see the StudyLink website www.studylink.govt.nz

Safeguarding tuition fees

In the unlikely event that New Zealand Tertiary College is unable to deliver the program you have enrolled in, New Zealand Tertiary College has protected your fees with Public Trust. Fees deposited are protected by the Public Trust. This arrangement has been accepted by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority as meeting the requirements of the Education and Training Act 2020 and the Student Fee Protection Rules 2022. Should access to your fees be necessary, you may contact Public Trust on 0800 494 733 or email feeprotect@publictrust.co.nz.

If a student requests homestay accommodation, a placement fee is required:

  • Homestay Placement $350
    This fee is non-refundable even if no homestay is taken by the student.

Medical and travel insurance is compulsory for international students. This can be purchased from NZTC:

  • Medical and Travel Insurance $861 (approx)/annum
    Insurance purchased from NZTC meets the conditions for insurance stipulated in the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. All insurance submitted to NZTC will be evaluated to ensure it meets the conditions. If the insurance does not, no Confirmation of Enrolment will be issued. Please check HERE .
