The importance of working within a person-centred framework along with applying strengths-based approaches to maximise client independence is highlighted.
This course builds students’ foundational knowledge on communicating positively to support clients within the healthcare setting. It explores the most common forms of communication within the healthcare setting, identifies potential communication barriers and strategies to overcome these, and highlights the importance of maintaining client privacy and confidentiality
This course explores the ways in which culture may impact on perspectives of health and wellbeing and client support. It focusses on the application of bicultural and multicultural principles, as well as weaves the tikanga practices through a range of cultures.
