Health and Wellbeing

New Zealand Tertiary College is a recognised NZQA Category 1 provider, delivering Health and Wellbeing programs that empower students with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to be effective healthcare assistants.

In support of the healthcare sector’s need for skilled professionals, NZTC is currently offering zero fees study for the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2), New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Health Assistance Strand (Level 3) and the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Care and Support) (Level 4).

Students are comprehensively supported during their study journey with flexible learning modes, practical workplace experience, and technology supported education.

NZTC Health and Wellbeing Program Lead, Maxine Farquhar, says gaining a Health and Wellbeing qualification benefits not only the individual, but also their whānau, the wider community and the sector.

“Healthcare providers have recognised the need for front-line staff to receive comprehensive higher-level training to ensure that the sector can respond appropriately and effectively to the complex needs of those requiring care, assistance and support within Aotearoa New Zealand.

“To achieve this, flexible learning options that are readily accessible to those working within, or those seeking to gain entry to the industry are essential, and this is precisely what NZTC’s Health and Wellbeing programs provide.”

Whether students study via NZTC Online or Blended Learning, combining online with practical workplace learning, all students receive wraparound support and guidance throughout their learning journey.

“The mode of delivery is a key component of supporting the health and wellbeing sector, as barriers to study can be removed without losing quality of learning,” says Farquhar.

“People who may not have considered a career in health and wellbeing can be supported to enter the sector, with the skills and confidence required to provide high quality care. Whilst those in the sector gain higher level skills and confidence in their professional practice.”
