Zero fee study supports Rehabilitation Coach
Previously working in Computer Science for eight years, Level 3 student, Sanal Jacob’s desire for a career change led him to explore new opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Encouraged by his wife, a registered nurse, to pursue studies in Health and Wellbeing, Jacob shares how NZTC’s zero fee study options offered a pathway to professional growth without financial barriers.
“After researching tertiary providers, NZTC immediately stood out to me, and when I came across their zero fee study programs, I applied on the same day!
“Recognised by NZQA, the college offers flexible study options and a great online community where I can connect with peers, and exchange ideas and knowledge through live chats and discussion forums.”
Currently employed by Evolution Healthcare as a Rehabilitation Coach, Jacob finds his role supporting clients in their rehabilitation journeys extremely rewarding.
“I oversee the implementation of clients’ rehabilitation plans, providing comprehensive support and aiding their participation in a range of activities.
“I take pride in creating meaningful interactions with clients, understanding their individual needs, and supporting them on their journey towards independence following traumatic brain injury or stroke.”
Being able to work full time while completing the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Health Assistance Strand (Level 3) was a huge drawcard for Jacob, allowing him to implement key learnings into his healthcare practice.
“The course, 304 - Health Conditions, gave me invaluable insights into the signs, symptoms, monitoring processes, and care strategies associated with common health conditions, enriching my role as a Healthcare Assistant.
“After completing an assignment on dysphagia, I had the opportunity to directly apply the knowledge and techniques learned to care for a client with this condition, reinforcing my understanding and enhancing my practical skills.”
To deepen his expertise and contribute further to client care, Jacob is keen to pursue Level 4 studies with the college.
“I’m so grateful for NZTC’s zero fee study options. It has helped me smoothly transition careers, and it’s been a source of immense satisfaction and personal growth. I’m excited for what the future holds.”
