Students share their favourite Level 4 courses

NZTC Cares

NZTC’s New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Care and Support) (Level 4) is designed to develop collaborative, advanced healthcare professionals who are active within their teams and workplaces.

Through the Blended Learning mode of the program, Level 4 students enjoy putting into practice key learnings from a range of courses. Our students share their favourite course below and how it is helping them in their healthcare role.

431: Supporting Collaborative Care

It is widely known that the foundation of safe and high-quality care is found in effective teamwork and collaboration. This course provides an understanding of the different roles that contribute to client care, prompts students to recognise and respect the expertise that each role brings, and places a focus on working collaboratively with these roles, along with the client and their whānau, to achieve positive health outcomes.

433: Person-Centred Care Practices

This course identifies four underpinning principles of person-centred care and how they apply within the context of basic care tasks. Students will extend these principles into the context of personal-care planning and goal setting. The process of personal-care planning will be explored and students will be able to discuss the benefits of this to clients and their whānau.

HW439: Cultural Space within Healthcare

Our understanding of another’s health status, how healthcare is delivered and how we care is often influenced by our own beliefs around health and illness. An important aspect of this is bound in our personal values and belief systems. In order to understand how to effectively and safely support others in culturally diverse environments, this course explores ways to ensure students’ work is culturally responsive and safe.
