Laura Wang
Laura Wang has a passion for working with young children which led her to study a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education) at NZTC. After she successfully completed her studies, Wang was keen to continue developing her teaching practice after being inspired by a teaching colleague undertaking a PhD.
Now completing her Master of Early Childhood Education qualification with NZTC, Wang is putting her newfound knowledge into practice in her role as a registered teacher.
“Pursuing a Master of Early Childhood Education has significantly enhanced my teaching practice and knowledge base. I’ve successfully integrated course learnings into my daily work, contributing to our team’s planning, assessment and evaluation processes.”
Drawing useful knowledge from her studies, Wang says her favourite course throughout her Master's has been, ‘The Ethical Self in Early Childhood Education’, which has significantly influenced her perspectives.
“The concept of professional agency has inspired me to become an agent for positive change within early childhood settings.”
She has also found great interest in the importance of early literacy, especially reading. Wang says she’s passionate about fostering a love of books and stories in young children.
“I strongly believe reading benefits children’s lifelong learning and development!”
