Purchasing He Taonga made easy with NZTC Books
He Taonga is one of the most sought after early childhood education titles available through NZTC Books which carries a range of resources that are essential for ECE students and professionals alike.
Te reo Māori: He taonga mō ā tātou mokopuna (He Taonga) is a learning resource created by New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) to support early childhood educators with te reo Māori, and it’s proving to be popular both within New Zealand and abroad with many people purchasing a copy through NZTC Books.
NZTC Books was created so students studying with NZTC and early childhood practitioners could easily access relevant resources for their profession. NZTC textbooks and leading titles on early childhood education are available for purchase to assist with the professional development of practitioners throughout their early childhood career.
Resources are selected not only by their relevance to the qualifications taught at NZTC but also by their strength in educational and informative research in the sector.
NZTC Librarian Angus Johnston said He Taonga is currently one of the most popular sellers on the site.
“We have had huge interest in He Taonga. When it first launched I would receive about 20 emails a day in regards to people wanting to get a copy.”
NZTC’s design, communication, teaching and administrative specialists worked collaboratively on the 118 page colour resource that features basic learning like numbers and colours, as well as additional ideas and practices that can be used to promote and assist te reo Māori learning in ECE centres and beyond.
NZTC received a Highly Commended award for its collaborative team effort in creating He Taonga at the prestigious New Zealand Diversity Awards which recognise and celebrate New Zealand businesses and organisations championing diversity and inclusion in the work place.
Administrator Chelsea Walls assists with NZTC Books logistics and said that orders for He Taonga have come from far and wide.
“We have had interest coming from all over New Zealand’s early childhood community and into the primary schooling communities.”
Walls adds that it is not just early childhood practitioners that are ordering the book but parents keen to gain confidence in te reo Māori to share the language with their children.
Other popular sellers are Conversations on early childhood teacher education: Voices from the working forum for teacher educators and Weaving Te Whariki: Aotearoa New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum document in theory and practice.
