Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) graduate, Preeti Rohilla found her calling in early childhood education through a profound love for children and a passion for teaching.

Originally from India, and now working at an early childhood centre in South Auckland, Rohilla finds immense joy in witnessing the growth and development of young children.

“Having the opportunity to help tamariki realise their potential is the most rewarding part of this profession.

“Only a trained mind can envision it, only a set of keen eyes can see it, only a well-tuned set of ears can hear it, and, most of all, only a few know and understand the true depth and beauty of early childhood education.”

Keen to become a registered teacher in New Zealand, Rohilla chose NZTC as the ideal tertiary provider, offering flexible workplace learning through the Blended Learning mode.

“NZTC was my clear-cut choice for gaining a global qualification in ECE as it supports students to gain a competitive advantage by offering industry-relevant coursework, engage in quality practical learning, and develop a research-oriented growth mindset.”

She shares how studying via NZTC Online was a positive experience, thanks to the college’s prompt communication and robust support system.

“I was provided impeccable communication and support throughout the program duration.

“NZTC offered an excellent learning environment with practical support during the Field Practice, support with online tutorials, pastoral support, IT support and one-on-one interactions with the lecturers during the practicum.”

Rohilla says her studies have equipped her with a deep understanding of child development, along with New Zealand’s early childhood education curriculum, Te Whāriki.

"I’ve learned to incorporate into my practice an understanding of developmentally appropriate research and theory for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, integrated with New Zealand’s ECE curriculum.”

Looking ahead, Rohilla aspires to attain full teacher registration and delve deeper into ECE research and leadership with a postgraduate program.
