NZTC’s e-journal a respected early childhood sector resource
A new issue of He Kupu (The Word), New Zealand Tertiary College’s peer-reviewed online research journal, has been released.
The journal provides early childhood educators, practitioners and students the opportunity to share knowledge on a key topic for the sector.
The research is shared with more than 11,000 global subscribers, and is used as an important resource for professional development and academic study.
In the latest issue, contributors from the college and other New Zealand institutions examine the different theories behind early childhood education teaching practices through case studies and practitioner research.
Examples include NZTC lecturers Amy Thynne-Polglasse and Phoebe Tong, who look at the role Associate Teachers play in helping our student teachers to develop their practice and the theories they can use to do this better.
Rachael Burke shares some of her research into beginner teachers who have come to New Zealand from overseas, and how their perceptions of children have changed.
He Kupu editor and NZTC’s Academic Dean, Dr Sean Dolan, says the articles in the new issue have the potential to positively impact the future of early childhood education.
“When they understand the different theories behind teaching strategies and practices, student teachers and educators can make informed decisions and continuously improve their skills in the classroom.”
