NZTC updates Level 3 Health and Wellbeing Program for 2026
New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) has introduced key updates to its New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Healthcare Assistance Strand (Level 3) to better support learners entering and working in the healthcare sector.
Beginning January 2026, the qualification will be delivered with a Blended Learning mode that includes 100 hours of work placement. Combining online study with practical experience in a healthcare facility, these updates will provide a balanced and practice-oriented learning experience.
This change reflects NZTC’s commitment to providing relevant, work-ready education that responds to current sector needs. The addition of structured work placements enables learners to develop essential practical skills in real healthcare environments, reinforcing their theoretical knowledge and preparing them for frontline roles.
The Level 3 Certificate is designed for those who support clients with their health and wellbeing under the guidance of a qualified professional. Graduates are well-prepared for roles such as healthcare assistants in hospitals, residential facilities, and community care settings.
Note: 2025 study intakes have closed. If you’re interested in studying from January 2026, please email admissions@nztc.nz to be added to the waitlist.
