NZTC students value flexible workplace learning

Early Childhood Education Health and Wellbeing

When weighing up study options, Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) student, Tony Wang, says NZTC was a clear winner for its programs offering flexibility and work-life balance.

“Before I enrolled, I compared NZTC with other universities and I chose NZTC because of its focus on practice and its more flexible approach to study.

“Having the ability to complete components of my study online suits me better as I have a family to look after and it gives me more flexibility in how I spend my time.”

NZTC programs support students to complete workplace learning alongside their work and family commitments.

Wang, who is about to start his final Field Practice placement in a Montessori based centre, appreciates the 24/7 accessibility of the course resources, allowing him to reinforce his understanding of early childhood education theories at his convenience.

“The online courses can be watched over and over again, which allows me to review what I have learnt if I don't understand something.”

For New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support) (Level 4) graduate, Jho Magon, the flexible study mode offered by NZTC first drew her to the program.

“I chose to study my Health and Wellbeing course with NZTC as it was highly recommended by a colleague. The online learning component of the program could be completed at a time that worked for me.”

Magon who works as a Support Worker for the elderly, says during her studies with NZTC she was able to gain further skills for her job at a self-directed pace, allowing her to continue to work full-time.

“What I enjoyed most about my studies with NZTC was basically the whole experience! Especially the learning process that promoted my independence as it’s more self-directed and it challenged me to develop my critical thinking in a positive direction.”

She feels the support she received while studying, along with gaining new knowledge, has helped her succeed in her career.

“The support and encouragement from the NZTC team inspired me to do better in order to achieve my goal.

“NZTC has definitely helped me prepare for my workplace through flexible learning and it has equipped me with the necessary knowledge that helps me to better carry out my job.”
