NZTC launches NEW postgraduate qualifications
New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) continues its commitment to innovation and early childhood teacher education with the delivery of two new NZQA approved postgraduate qualifications in 2016.
The College will add to its portfolio of postgraduate study options for students with the delivery of a 60 credit Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Leadership and Management) and a 180 credit Master of Early Childhood Education. The new qualifications are in addition to the two current postgraduate qualifications - the Master of Education (ECE) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (ECE).
After engaging with over 330 early childhood professionals, including the Early Childhood Council, graduates, Associate Teachers and students, the voice of the ECE community shared their need for a qualification that equips learners with sector specific management, mentoring and leadership skills.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Leadership and Management) has been developed to meet these needs with the qualification requiring only six months of study to complete. NZTC’s online learning environment (NZTC Online) also gives busy students the flexibility to study at a time and place that suits them.
The Master of Early Childhood Education is an 18 month qualification tailored to early childhood professionals who wish to advance their scholarship in curriculum, leadership, advocacy and ethics at a postgraduate level through coursework. It enables those who hold positions such as managers and senior teaching staff to enhance the leadership and mentoring of staff in their centres and grow in their professional specialisation of working with families and young children.
“NZTC continues to assess the needs of the early childhood sector and the best ways to support these. We are excited to offer a new Master of Early Childhood Education by coursework and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Leadership and Management) in support of our profession. We look forward to meeting with students in the coming months to discuss these new options which offer new pathways for students to achieve their postgraduate dreams,” commented NZTC Chief Executive Selena Fox.
Applications for the February intake for these qualifications are now open. For more information about these exciting new postgraduate study options, please click HERE or call (09) 520 4000 / (03) 366 8000.
