NZTC celebrates Values Month!
New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC)’s Spirit shone proudly throughout August in celebration of our annual Values Month tradition. For more than 38 years, the college has been living and breathing our four treasured values of Vision, Heart, Competence and Spirit, as we support our students and the wonderful work they do for our early childhood and healthcare communities.
Values Month is a cherished tradition; a time where we come together as one to celebrate our values and reflect on how they guide us in support and commitment to our students. These core qualities are reflected in the ways in which we teach, care, support and learn, and are constant reminders of our priorities for everything we do.
Throughout the month, NZTC staff were encouraged to reflect on one value per week. Vision was cast as staff recorded their visionary ideas for 2020 in a gifted notebook, and Competence was tested with the challenge of completing a puzzle – a beloved time-honoured tradition. Hand sanitiser was also shared as a gesture of heartfelt care to staff and their families, as was the much-loved chocolate fish as an embodiment of NZTC Spirit.
“Values Month has seen us celebrate each other and then together support and celebrate our students, reflecting on how we see our values shining, living and guiding who we are in extraordinary ways. The stories and moments that have been shared during this time are so very special, and we carry these, and each other, in our hearts as we support our students and the sectors they serve,” said NZTC Chief Executive, Selena Fox.
