Indian Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) student, Kirtika Shiudin Rajcharan, was selected to be part of the ceremony’s kaikaranga, a traditional Māori welcome call.

“Being part of this procession was an incredibly meaningful and spiritual experience for me. I felt I was calling out to others and welcoming them to a new phase of our lives as I walked down the aisle in the welcome procession.

“It was a privilege and an honour to have this opportunity and be a part of this significant moment in the graduation.”

Having family by her side to celebrate the milestone was a highlight for Rajcharan.

“It wasn’t just about walking across the stage to get acknowledged for my accomplishment, but celebrating the growth and transformation I went through, and with my husband by my side.

“Getting into my regalia gave me profound pride and joy, knowing that the countless hours of hard work and dedication I had invested had paid off and I had a bright future ahead.”

For Chinese Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) student, Weisi Hu, being able to attend graduation was particularly significant.

“My graduation is a milestone that signifies a time of completion, especially since it was a long time coming in my case.

“I started my degree in 2017, and what should have been a simple three years turned into five, when I popped home to China for a quick family visit and got stuck while borders shut there and here.

“I studied long distance and finally returned to complete my degree, with many thanks to the NZTC International Team for their full support when I returned.”

Hu says graduation marks the beginning of a new chapter in her life, and she looks forward to continuing her studies with a master’s degree.

“Going on the stage with the gown made me feel that everything was worth it. I’ll keep extending my professional development and knowledge in ECE.

“My goal is to share my love and knowledge with young children, and I plan to apply for a master’s degree in education in the near future.”
