New students receive a warm welcome during NZTC orientation

Early Childhood Education Health and Wellbeing News

Students were welcomed to the college with a pōhiri (a traditional Māori welcome ceremony), after which they attended a variety of informative sessions throughout the week to support them on their study journey with NZTC and help them adapt to life in New Zealand.

To end the week of introduction, students embarked on a field trip to get to know the public transport system and explore what NZTC’s campus cities have to offer.

NZTC Pastoral Support member Kate Lee explained the value of orientation for students – especially those who have moved to New Zealand from overseas. “They get a good insight into the public transport system, local shopping areas and New Zealand culture. It is a great time for students to bond with both their peers and staff from the college,” she said.
