Mental Health Support Worker says studies have helped him flourish in the sector
For many, a career in healthcare is motivated by a desire to influence people’s lives in positive ways. Level 4 graduate Parsanjit Lohia shares this sentiment wholeheartedly.
“Making a difference for clients is the main motivation for choosing a job in healthcare. Whether you work as a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker or a Nurse, you will help to create a healthier and happier world.”
Choosing the right tertiary provider was important for the Mental Health and Addiction Support Worker, who says NZTC’s commitment to student success solidified his choice.
“When you have questions, NZTC lecturers go above and beyond to help students and ensure that they have a comprehensive understanding of the topic at hand.
“NZTC provided me the skills required to succeed in the healthcare sector. With a wide spectrum of expertise, NZTC ensures its students not only excel but flourish in the sector, paving the way for fantastic careers.”
Currently working in the field of mental health, Lohia appreciates being able to improve people’s lives on a daily basis.
“As a Mental Health Support Worker, I assist clients with a range of tasks, including making nutritious home-cooked meals, medication management and participation in social events within the wider community.
“When I discover them developing and reaching their full potential, I feel extremely proud. I'm passionate about improving the lives of clients with disabilities and assisting them in living freely and to the best of their abilities.”
With the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Care and Support) (Level 4) under his belt, Lohia is keen to continue studying and aspires to become an Occupational Therapist or a Social Worker.
“NZTC really gave me the confidence and expertise I needed to succeed. It’s inspired me to go beyond, to keep learning and to keep helping people achieve their goals.
“I would like to encourage everyone to step into this sector and make a career out of it. It’s so rewarding to not only support but also effect positive, life-saving changes in the lives of others.”
