Māori and Pasifika scholarships to support teacher education

Early Childhood Education

Are you of Māori or Pasifika descent?

If so, you may be eligible for a scholarship that saves you up to 80% off your study fees for the first year, supporting you to establish an exciting new career in early childhood!

With our teacher education scholarships, students pay only $999 towards their first year of study for the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) and the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 6).

Graduates of the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) are eligible to apply for New Zealand Teacher Registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. The Level 5 and Level 6 programs have been designed to link easily into each other, providing a flexible range of pathway options into higher level study.

Currently in the final stages of his program, Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) student Junior Melei’s scholarship enabled him to formally pursue a lifelong passion of working with children.

“It was truly a blessing to be able to remove some of the financial strain through my scholarship. Course fees and student loans can become a real burden, not only for Māori and Pasifika students, but all students in general.

“I am now well on my way to becoming a qualified teacher, with a dream of opening my own ECE centre in the future.”
