Level 4 graduate equipped with new knowledge for rewarding profession

Health and Wellbeing

For Healthcare Assistant Noman Eric, caring for people from different walks of life is the perfect way to gain new insights and wisdom.

“Healthcare is a rewarding profession to work in and I love interacting with my clients. I appreciate the wisdom and knowledge that they carry from all their life experience and I find there is always something to learn from them.”

Currently working as a Wellness Partner at Cascades Retirement Village in Hamilton, Eric was originally drawn to a career in healthcare after looking after his father.

"I was inspired to become a healthcare worker after caring for my father when he had open heart surgery in Pakistan, where the hospitals require someone to be with the patient at all times. This experience caring for others led me to my current career path."

The Level 3 and 4 graduate says his newly acquired knowledge has better equipped him in his daily tasks caring for the aged. In particular, he says the Level 4 Dementia Care elective course provided him with practical skills and strategies for his role.

“Studying with NZTC has helped me to understand the physical and psychological changes that elderly people face in a more in-depth way.

“It has also equipped me with things like knowledge of the rights of clients and how to care for them in a safe and professional way while upholding their respect, dignity and independence.”

He chose to study with NZTC because of the “interesting and informative study content”, along with the flexible and accessible study format.

“The mode of study is quite flexible which allows students to study at their convenience. This also means that study can fit around personal life and home or work responsibilities. As well as this, easy access to the NZTC study material allowed me to study anywhere, at any time; whether I am at home or work.

“NZTC is an ideal tertiary provider which equips students with the knowledge and skills required to pursue a job in the field of healthcare.”
