He Kupu a valuable resource for Malaysian student
He Kupu (The Word) is an NZTC produced biannual e-journal, providing ECE professionals throughout New Zealand the opportunity to share research and practical knowledge across a wide range of sector relevant topics.
In its latest release, He Kupu explores the contemporary leadership landscape within the early childhood sector, offering essential practices to empower teachers on their journey towards leadership excellence.
Contributors reflect on themes common within the sector, including relational leadership, leadership development, mentoring, emotional wellbeing and its link to teacher leadership, as well as culturally responsive leadership.
For Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) student, Diana Lim, He Kupu is a treasured resource that is supporting her theoretical knowledge, and providing key insights into New Zealand’s early childhood teaching pedagogies.
“In my opinion, this professional development resource by NZTC is a valuable asset that greatly supports my academic journey.
“He Kupu covers a diverse range of academic contributions that are continually updated. This is particularly beneficial for students like me, as it ensures access to the latest research and information in the field of early childhood education.”
Lim finds the fully-refereed e-journal an excellent source of research to aid her studies, and often incorporates and refers to the articles in her assignments.
“Unlike other journals, He Kupu concentrates solely on early childhood education, offering content that is directly aligned with my studies. This focused approach is immensely helpful, saving time and effort in sifting through materials that may not be directly relevant.”
Originally from Malaysia, Lim says He Kupu provides informed and unique perspectives into New Zealand’s early childhood sector.
“The journal articles delve into pedagogies, teaching methodologies, and learning practices that align with the New Zealand education system.
“This is pivotal for international students like me who aspire to become a kaiako (teacher) in this country. It provides an invaluable glimpse into the practical applications of teaching that resonate with the local ECE context.”
