ECE study scholarships to support sector need
In support of the significant need for registered early childhood teachers in New Zealand, NZTC has launched limited time study scholarships with the intention of removing the financial barrier by offering study with reduced fees.
Flexible workplace study was a key motivator for past ECE scholarship recipient, Tonya Botherway, to begin her journey towards New Zealand teacher registration and a career in early childhood education.
“While I was looking for providers, I saw the NZTC scholarship opportunity. It was a great support and helped kick-start my studies in ECE. I chose NZTC for the flexibility of being able to study remotely and I also love the ability to be able to work in a centre as part of my studies,” says the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) student.
Launching today, the college is offering scholarships for the first year of the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) and the introductory New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5).
With flexible study options, extensive support services and plentiful job opportunities, now is the perfect time to take the next step and progress towards becoming a registered early childhood teacher.
“The significant ECE sector need for registered early childhood teachers is something that we are acutely aware of. Study fees can be a barrier for some students to progress towards teacher registration so we hope these reduced fees will support more people to pursue further studies,” says NZTC Chief Executive, Selena Fox.
Scholarship applications are open from 27 June – 29 July 2022. Study must commence by 5 September 2022. For domestic students only.
