A commitment to caring and educating with Competence
NZTC is dedicated to increasing Competence and confidence through its programs, enabling students to make a difference in their respective fields. One recent ECE graduate, Charnel Coetzee, reflects on this value and her commitment to excellence.
“I am an advocate of lifelong learning so that I can develop myself to be the best teacher I can be, through continually being critically reflective of my practices.”
Recently completing the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE), Coetzee says she has learnt so much about herself and those around her.
“My NZTC studies have helped me discover and explore what I value and how to use my strengths and Competence to support my team and little minds.
“I believe through using strategies like modelling, observational learning, scaffolding, active listening, and co-construction, I can give children positive guidance until they are confident to be independent and make good choices to contribute to their environment positively.”
Coetzee also shares the importance of showing Competence through effective teamwork at her centre.
“Being consistent, reliable, collaborative and supportive of each other makes us better role models for the children. I believe that as a team we can commit to the Treaty of Waitangi through partnership, participation, and protection, supporting independent and confident children.”
