Monika is flourishing in her role as a healthcare assistant after completing her Level 2 qualification with the college.

Name: Monika Manu

Qualification: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2)

Healthcare assistant, Monika Manu, is working hard towards her goal of becoming a registered nurse, after recently completing the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2) qualification with New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC).

“I absolutely love working in the healthcare sector. I feel the work I do really makes a difference, and this is what continues to inspire me every day. I am now partway through my Level 3 qualification, and plan to eventually complete my Level 4 too so I can learn as much as possible before I embark on my journey as a nurse.”

Monika chose to enrol with NZTC as she was drawn to the flexible online learning options.

“As a single parent working full-time at the Radius Arran Court rest home, I needed to be able to fit my study around a busy daily schedule.

“I have learnt so much, and now have a better understanding of providing care. I have definitely expanded my knowledge of what is required of me as a healthcare assistant. I love spending time with our clients, knowing I have the skills needed to ensure they receive a high quality of care.”

Although initially nervous about studying online as it was something she had never done before, the support from NZTC provided Monika with assurance and encouragement that she could succeed.

“I discussed my concerns with my tutor and she was highly supportive of me every step of the way. NZTC Online is designed with simplicity in mind and is easy to understand. The college has also released an app so you can receive eMessages when your assignment has been marked and can easily access your grades. I am now in my second year of study and I am so much more confident.

“Overall, my experience studying with NZTC has been wonderful! I’ve even managed to encourage some of my fellow colleagues to enrol in the Level 2 qualification.”
