Level 3 graduate and healthcare worker, Casey Mischeski, is on a mission to provide compassionate care.

Name: Casey Mischeski

Qualification: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Health Assistance Strand (Level 3)

Casey Mischeski’s inspiration to pursue a career in healthcare, particularly elderly care, is deeply rooted in empathy and a sense of responsibility.

“I think what propelled me toward this field was the fact that I have heard many stories of people not receiving the dignified and respectful care they deserve.

“This made me reflect on the kind of care I would expect my family members to receive. As someone who strives to help people, especially those who are vulnerable and unable to advocate for themselves, it inspired me to choose this line of work.”

The Level 3 graduate says her studies with NZTC have equipped her with a new-found confidence in client care, which she draws on in her role as a care partner at Elms Court Rest Home in Christchurch.

“Completing Level 3 Health and Wellbeing has helped my everyday work by making me feel so much more confident within myself and the level of care that I am able to provide the residents.”

Mischeski’s daily responsibilities include a wide range of tasks such as bed-making, laundry, cleaning, and providing essential personal care for the residents.

Forming connections and bonding with those she provides care for is by far the most rewarding aspect, she shares.

“I just love getting to know the residents, and seeing them smile is such an enjoyable and fulfilling part of my job.

“Also having that strong sense that the care and assistance I am providing is making a positive difference to their life. It’s just a wonderful feeling.”

Buoyed by her Level 3 accomplishment, she has already embarked on the next chapter by pursuing the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Care and Support) (Level 4) with the college.
