Christine Joy Remedio became fulfilled in her career when she started working in ECE

Name: Christine Joy Remedio

Qualification: Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE)

In 2019, Christine Joy Remedio and her family moved to Aotearoa where Christine found herself in a new situation, becoming the main breadwinner for her family. She found a position in an ECE centre where she embraced a varied role doing everything from admin tasks to being an ECE reliever, and assisting in the kitchen.

This new career path ended up being more rewarding and fulfilling than any previous career aspiration she’d had.

“This realization solidified my commitment to ECE,” she tells us, and she enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE).

“With the support of my husband’s stable job, I seized the opportunity to fully immerse myself in what had become my calling.”

Now a graduate and fully committed to her new career, Christine is passionate about nurturing young minds and guiding them toward becoming compassionate, responsible tamariki. “Teaching is not just a job, but a journey of continuous discovery and impact,” she reflects.

Christine wants to inspire and create a lasting impression on every child in her care.

“My goal is to continue growing professionally and personally, enriching my skills and knowledge to make lasting impacts on the lives of children and others. I aim to help young minds develop into competent, skilled individuals with strong character, tailored to each child’s needs. Inspiring better generations for years to come.”

We asked Christine some questions about her NZTC journey.

Why did you choose to study with New Zealand Tertiary College?

“I chose NZTC because of its strong reputation. Many colleagues from my ECE centre are NZTC alumni, and I’ve observed the significant progress in their professional skills and dedication to the field, which influenced my decision.”

How has studying online through NZTC Online been for you?

“Studying online with NZTC has been beneficial. The platform provides comprehensive resources and inspiring readings that I often refer to in my daily teaching practice.”

What was your favourite course?

“One of my favourite courses was EC651: Pedagogy for Infants, Toddlers, and Young Children. From this course, I delved into lifespan development, which now forms a crucial foundation for my reflections and activities with the children.”
