Shuchita Jain
Name: Shuchita Jain
Qualification: Master of Early Childhood Education
Currently working as a Head Teacher at Kids Cove Early Learning Centre in Albany, Auckland, Shuchita Jain attributes her career growth to her invaluable experiences and knowledge gained through her NZTC studies.
She believes that the education she received not only sharpened her teaching and leadership skills, but also instilled in her the attitude of a teacher committed to nurturing children’s early years with love and respect.
“My educational journey with NZTC has been extremely beneficial in supporting my career as a teacher, and further, as a teacher-leader.
“I was so pleased to find that both my Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) and my Master of Early Childhood Education had a leadership component. These programs, and the lecturers, absolutely helped me to understand what exactly leadership looks like in the early childhood sector.”
In her role as Head Teacher, Jain’s responsibilities extend far beyond the classroom. Her leadership skills are put to the test daily as she manages schedules, room dynamics, daily routines, special events and celebrations.
She is also responsible for ensuring the overall wellbeing and learning of the children while building strong relationships and collaborations with the teaching team and parents.
Having taught in primary schools for more than 12 years, Jain’s passion for education runs deep. However, her pursuit of further learning in early childhood education was driven by an eagerness to step outside of her comfort zone.
“After all those years, I was in search of a fresh learning journey that could widen my horizons and introduce me to new challenges. This is precisely why I chose to study with NZTC and fulfil my dream of becoming an ECE teacher-leader.
“I firmly believe that if anyone wishes to pursue a career in ECE, NZTC is the obvious choice. The supportive faculty, coupled with relevant content that enriches learning, made me feel consistently supported and guided.”
For those aspiring for teacher leadership positions, Jain offers some words of wisdom.
“If you are aiming to become a Head Teacher, focus is the key to keep you alert and far-sighted. There will be ups and downs in your journey, but if you are determined and focused then you can be the light for your team, tamariki and whānau.”
