Lovleen Kaur

Name: Lovleen Kaur

Qualification: Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education)

A passionate teacher, Lovleen Kaur chose a career in early childhood because of her strong belief in the importance of shaping young minds during the early years.

Having studied the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) with New Zealand Tertiary College, she was confident in returning for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education) because of her first experience with the college, and the quality of support provided.

She is now lecturing in Early Childhood Education herself, and aims to advance her teaching practice through the college’s comprehensive postgraduate curriculum.

“I hope to gain a deeper understanding of early childhood education theories and practices, enhance my teaching skills, and be better equipped to inspire and support my students,” she says.

Lovleen is particularly interested in inclusive education, and creating equal opportunities for children to learn and grow regardless of their background or abilities.

“One piece of knowledge that has stuck with me from my studies is the importance of creating a stimulating and supportive environment that caters to the diverse needs of all children.”

We asked Lovleen about her greatest inspiration, and how she manages to fit study around work:

Who has inspired you the most in your career?

My mother has been my greatest inspiration. Her dedication and love for teaching have profoundly influenced my career choice and approach to education.

How have you been able to fit the program in around your work?

Balancing the program with work has been challenging but manageable. The flexible schedule and supportive faculty at New Zealand Tertiary College have been instrumental. Effective time management and prioritising tasks have also helped.

Do you have any tips for other postgraduate students who are thinking about studying while working full-time?

Stay organised, set clear goals, and seek support from peers and mentors. It’s also important to take breaks and care for your wellbeing to avoid burnout.
