Celebrating student success is integral to New Zealand Tertiary College’s values. Spare time is limited for our students who work within caring professions, so when our students are unable to come to us, we go to them!

Chief Executive Selena Fox, accompanied by fellow NZTC staff, recently travelled to Orewa to acknowledge the significant achievements of 13 graduates of NZTC’s Level 3 and 4 health and wellbeing programs.

The graduates Vision, Heart, Competence and Spirit was honoured at a special ceremony held at their place of work – Maygrove Village. Management and residents attended and shared in the celebrations by recognising their carers’ accomplishments.

“It was incredibly special to be at Maygrove Village to celebrate our graduates’ successes amongst their wider team and especially their residents. After all – it’s the residents that this is all about. A highlight for me was how engaged and excited so many residents were. They sure led the clapping!” said Fox.

Health and Wellbeing Lecturer Helen Hegley said it was wonderful to see graduates enjoying a well-deserved afternoon of recognition.

“We get to know our students very well during the course of their study. So, we know they are passionate about their role and we know they are good at what they do, caring and nurturing our elderly. It was such a privilege to acknowledge their value and how amazing they are,” Hegley said.

The celebratory ceremony was an all-round success with graduates sharing their appreciation of the acknowledgement.

Level 3 graduate Jessie Lightband shared, “We felt honoured and elated that we could share our special day with our management team, our wing coordinators, our fellow workers, some of our wonderful residents, the team from NZTC and our fellow graduates.”
