Name: Maryanne Painter
Maryanne Painter was hesitant to try online learning but found it to be a positive and encouraging experience with the knowledge she gained motivating and guiding her every day in her work.
Maryanne completed the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support) Level 4 while balancing work and other commitments, even managing to earn herself an award of Academic Excellence for her impressive performance.
NZTC offers a range of qualifications such as the Level 4 certificate in a flexible format that allows students to work at their own pace and from their own home, while also gaining practical experience and collaborating with other students.
Students like Maryanne can review readings during their lunchbreaks and contribute to discussion groups from the breakfast table, meaning work and life commitments don’t have to be sacrificed in order to earn a qualification.
“I was pleasantly surprised by the online learning experience and encouraged by the participatory nature of the course, where you become part of an online learning community and interact with a diverse group of students from all over New Zealand,” Maryanne said.
With newfound leadership skills and a focus on collaborative care, Maryanne is now able to utilise the skills and knowledge she has gained to improve the lives of others in her work.
“We owe it to ourselves and our residents to upskill and commit to the new opportunities in the Health and Wellbeing sector.”
