HW435 : Client Advocacy
For a Healthcare Assistant to truly embody a person-centred approach to care, it is essential to prioritise listening and responding to clients. This course explores the importance of advocacy and empowerment, as well as the possible implications of not promoting these principles in practice. Implications may include decreased self-esteem and independence, uncertainty, stigmatisation and marginalisation, and clients feeling isolated, uninformed and unable to contribute towards their own care plan.
This course places a focus on the responsibilities of a Healthcare Assistant to support, protect and provide a platform for client’s voices to be heard, and identifies strategies to facilitate this.
