New programs launched to best support the ECE sector
New Zealand Tertiary College consistently reviews the needs of New Zealand’s early childhood sector to ensure the college’s programs continue to support our students in the best way possible.
NZTC’s unique courses are developed in-house, tailored towards supporting early childhood professionals with workplace competencies as the sector landscape continues to evolve.
The revised courses cover additional subject areas including new research on child development, a greater focus on social competence in early childhood, more emphasis on the practical side of bicultural development, and a focus on leadership.
“As an innovative college that prides itself on being at the forefront of the early childhood sector’s needs, we are proud to deliver these refreshed programs following intensive review, research and engagement with our early childhood community. We are looking forward to sharing them in the coming months,” said NZTC Chief Executive Selena Fox.
The new programs lead to the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) and New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 6). These programs pathway to the initial teacher education program - the NZTC Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education).
The NZTC program leading to the New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 6) is currently the only one in New Zealand to be approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
The delivery of these new programs will begin on Monday 18 September 2017 with enrolments open now for the weekly intake dates.
The college has also refreshed their program at Level 4 that caters to those who may not meet the entry criteria for the Level 5 diploma, or those who simply want a taste of a career in early childhood education. The New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4) commences on Monday 21 August 2017.
