Programs for the early childhood teaching profession
If you're just starting out in the early childhood teaching, a seasoned early childhood professional, or just looking for a career change, New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) has a training program to suit your needs.
We offer six New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA)-approved and accredited qualifications in early childhood teaching.
Our Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) qualifications are also recognised by the New Zealand Teachers Council, which means that graduates are eligible to apply for provisional teacher registration in New Zealand.

Graduate Diploma in Teaching
(Early Childhood Education)
If you already have a degree, this 50 week full-time course will provide you with everything you need to know to change to a career in early childhood teaching. Graduates are eligible to apply for teacher registration in New Zealand.
Bachelor of Teaching
(Early Childhood Education)
A 3 year full-time bachelor's degree program in early childhood teaching. Our qualification combines scholarly research, critical analysis and practical teaching skills. Graduates are eligible to apply for teacher registration in New Zealand.
Certificate in Early Childhood Teaching
(Level 6)
A 2 year full-time program which will develop your skills as a teacher in early childhood settings, provide support in research and writing, and will enable significant credit toward our Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) program.
Certificate in Early Childhood Education
(Level 5)
A 1 year full-time program which will develop your skills as a teacher in early childhood settings, provide support in research and writing, and will enable credit toward our Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) program.
Certificate in Early Childhood Education
(Introduction)
