Mission Statement
We are guided by our New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) mission statement, which provides a clear direction for all of our present and future activities:
Mission Statement
'New Zealand Tertiary College aims to empower people to become
effective early childhood educators who respond to the needs of children and
communities, by providing comprehensive and professional programs'
Values
Four values underpin our mission statement. These values are constant reminders of our priorities for everything we do:
Vision - (or Te Mata in Māori , the language of New Zealand’s indigenous people and an official language
of New Zealand).
Through our vision for the wellbeing of children, our students and staff are encouraged to look to the future
to see the difference they want to make in the lives of young children and families.
Heart - (Ngākau and Manawa)
Through heart and kindness we celebrate diversity in people and their skills, talents, gifts, abilities,
knowledge and culture.
Competence - (Poutama)
Through competence and confidence in our skills and abilities, we believe we can make a positive
difference to early childhood teaching through professional service and a commitment to excellence.
Spirit - (Wairua)
Through a positive, dynamic and energetic spirit, we are open to the very best of learning in order to be
leaders in our early childhood profession, both nationally and internationally.
