International enrolments

To enrol as an International Student in an early childhood program at New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC), you must complete the following steps:

Student acknowledgement form (PDF, 136KB)

Step 1: Submit a completed set of application documents which includes:

  • An Application form
  • A ‘Student Acknowledgment’ form
  • A ‘Referee report’ – to be completed by a referee who has known the applicant for more than 6 months (this person must not be a relative)
  • An Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) results report. The result must not be more than two years old
  • A Statement of Intent (Statement of Purpose):
    • The Statement of Intent should be between 300-400 words long, and outline the reasons the applicant wants to study an Early Childhood Teacher Education program at NZTC in Auckland, New Zealand. It should have a declaration at the end stating that it has been written by the applicant, and should be signed and dated.
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Copies* of your educational qualification**
  • A copy* of your passport.

* Please note: original documents should be sighted and copies signed by an NZTC staff member, or the copies should be certified by an authorised person.

** Graduate Diploma applicants please note: if your qualification was obtained outside New Zealand, it must be assessed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA)  before you apply to NZTC. 

Step 2: Telephone interview

All applicants who are applying from overseas will be expected to undergo a telephone interview (or a face-to-face interview if possible).

Step 3: Offer Letter and Fees Invoice

If you are successful, you will be sent a letter containing an offer of placement for your desired program and an invoice for the tuition fees due to NZTC.

Step 4: Offer acceptance, Fee payment & Medical and Travel Insurance

To accept the offer of placement, you need to contact NZTC and pay the tuition fees.

Medical and Travel Insurance is compulsory for international students. Please provide evidence of your Medical and Travel Insurance at the same time that you pay the tuition fees. You can purchase Medical and Travel Insurance through NZTC.

Step 5: Confirmation of Enrolment and Fee Receipt issued

When you have met all of the conditions stated in the offer letter, a Confirmation of Enrolment will be sent to you along with the fee receipt to enable you to finalise your visa requirements.

Step 6: Obtain a valid visa to study in New Zealand

You will then be required to submit a valid visa to NZTC before starting your program of study.
