History of NZTC Online
NZTC Online was developed at NZTC in Auckland. We wished to build on the success of our successful correspondence-based mode of distance learning, and offer our programs online.
Distance learning allows us to reach our students who live out of Auckland, and is also a popular option with students who wish to balance their study with family and work commitments.
To design an online distance learning environment, NZTC Chief Executive Selena Fox collaborated with Dr. Chip Donohue, an early childhood and distance learning expert, to research best practices in e-learning. Together with the NZTC team of IT and early childhood professionals, they developed ecelearn –an easy-to-use online learning environment especially for teachers in the early childhood profession.
During years of further testing and development, including two pilot studies at NZTC, ecelearn was customised into NZTC Online. NZTC launched its first online learning program with NZTC Online in May 2009.
ecelearn is now being commercially developed into a product that any organisation can use to manage and deliver online learning programs. Read more about ecelearn online learning solution.
