How to apply   |   Career opportunities

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is credit towards your chosen program at New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) for courses which you have completed at other tertiary institutions.

If you wish to apply for RPL, you will be required to pay a $95.00 application fee to cover administrative costs involved in our RPL assessment process. You will need to pay the fee upfront before we can undertake your RPL assessment or interview.

For New Zealand qualifications

If you have a completed (or partially complete) qualification in early childhood education from a New Zealand education provider, you may be eligible to receive RPL.

RPL is assessed by our curriculum team on a case by case basis. Whether you receive RPL for your previously completed qualifications depends on whether the learning outcomes of each course correspond to the learning outcomes in NZTC courses, and whether the level of your previous study equates to your intended NZTC program.

To be assessed for RPL, you must supply your academic transcript and learning outcomes of each course or qualification (the education provider will be able to give these to you).

Please note that you may only receive RPL for academic achievements only.

For more information on RPL, please contact us.

For overseas qualifications

You may be eligible for RPL if you have completed an early childhood qualification at an overseas tertiary institution.

Before NZTC begins the RPL process, you need to get your qualification assessed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) . Please contact NZQA for more information on this process.
