The next issue of He Kupu is now available. The articles in this issue focus on 'Arts practice and play' in early childhood education. This is a special edition devoted solely to Arts education and covers Music, Art, Dance and Drama. The contributors include: Dr. Susan Young, who writes on her work in music education and play, Dr.Sophie Alcock who contributes an article on drama and children's play and Dr.Adrienne Sansom who develops the theme of dance and play. Lesley Pohio considers art and the Emilia Reggio approach and Robyn Trinick adds a reflection on beginning school and music education. Finally Lucy Baigner writes on diverse ways to encourage children's self-initiated musical activity and how to encourage this 'play' within the early childhood setting.

A new
He Kupu: Volume Two
He Kupu will be changing focus for Volume Two, out next year, to include not only research in online teacher education and technology but early childhood education in general. This more inclusive journal will become a resource not only for scholars working in the field of early childhood education but also for students of early childhood education, and for practicing early childhood teachers. Next year will also see conference reports and occasional reviews of new publications in the field of early childhood education as part of the expanding journal....
